Manasota Beach Road Rehabilitation Inspection, Design, and Construction Engineering Inspection, Sarasota County, Florida: E.C. Driver was retained by the Sarasota County Department of Public Works to perform an in-depth inspection, prepare plans to rehabilitate and perform construction engineering services for the Manasota Beach Road Bridge in Sarasota County, Florida. The bridge is a 1960’s vintage double leaf bascule drawbridge with pre-stressed AASHTO approach spans over the Intracoastal Waterway Rehabilitation plans were developed to either replace or upgrade structural, mechanical and electrical elements. Structural elements included replacement of deteriorated steel stringers, complete replacement of the steel grid deck on the bascule span, complete replacement of the sidewalk decking and fender system as well as sand blasting and repainting the bascule span and the steel flanking spans. The rehab also included complete refurbishment of the Hopkins Frame except for the racks, complete replacement of the span locks, and a complete upgrade or replacement of the electrical elements. ECDA performed post design services for the County. As part of these services ECDA reviewed shop drawings and participated in public involvement meetings to explain the project and discuss the temporary impacts to local businesses and residences.
